The Watch: The Gerald Genta G.3610 Classic Retro Seconds channels the playful innovation of the legendary designer's own maison. While Genta is best known for shaping the modern luxury sports watch with the Nautilus and Royal Oak, his eponymous brand—founded in 1969—pushed the limits of mechanical creativity throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s. The Retro Seconds line, featuring a clean retrograde seconds hand that snaps back every 60 seconds, became one of his signature complications.
This particular example is beautifully preserved. The white dial features bold Arabic numerals and a retrograde seconds arc from 0 to 30 at 6 o’clock, with a slender blued hand sweeping upward before snapping back at the half-minute mark. A combination of classic layout and quirky detail, it epitomizes Genta's genius in blending tradition with play.
The domed stainless steel case measures a wearable 36mm across and sits comfortably on a wide range of wrists. The bezel is polished, with a stepped case flank and stylized lugs that add depth to its compact profile. The automatic movement is Swiss-made, and the winding action is smooth and deliberate.
This watch includes its original Gerald Genta presentation box and hangtag—no papers. It's a rare piece from a now-defunct independent brand, and a meaningful link to one of the greatest watch designers in history.
Condition: Very good pre-owned condition. Light marks across the case.
Includes: Watch, box, hangtag.
