1994 IWC Ingenieur Ref 3521 Full Set
1994 IWC Ingenieur Ref 3521 Full Set
The Watch: Another Gerald Genta masterpiece. The IWC Ingenieur (an anti-magnetic engineer’s watch) of the 1970’s-90’s was an integrated bracelet update of a more refined and conventional mid-century design. Some of those original, jumbo models (the coveted ref 1832) hover around 25k these days.
This is the 3521, the 5th and final of the “mid-sized” Ingenieurs. It succeeded the 3508, and to make the 3521 a ‘professional’ offering, IWC pursued a COSC certification. In order to meet the standards, they removed the ETA base. To replace it IWC, like most, rang JLC. So you wind up with a JLC 889 ébauche, and to aid in the quest to shield magnetism, the rotor is solid 950 platinum. These cases measure 34, but much like the royal oak, wear larger than standard, more like a 36 datejust.
This example comes full kit, with box and papers from Monard’s, 1994. Note that the inner box and pillow are very worn.
Includes: Watch, box, and papers.
Condition: Good vintage condition. See photos. Note that the inner box and pillow are very worn.
