The Watch: The Reverso Duoface, introduced in 1994, uses the polo-derived reversible case to its full potential by putting a second dial on the back. Rather than flipping to a solid caseback, you flip to a second time zone. This reference, 270.3.64, is the Duoface in 18k white gold. The case measures 26mm x 36mm (42mm with the brancards, the sliding rails that house the case). One side presents a stark, black and silver dial with applied Arabic and dagger numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o'clock, and dauphine hands with a sharply defined black-and-white aesthetic. The reverse offers a salmon-tinged second dial with its own time display and a rounded aesthetic including undulant guilloche. A pusher in the case band allows independent setting of the second time zone.
The caliber 854 is a manual-winding movement with 21 jewels. It drives both dials through a single gear train, which is a more complex engineering challenge than it might sound: the movement needs to transmit power to hands on opposite sides of the case while accommodating the reversing mechanism.
This 2001 example shows some wear on the case, including a scuff visible on one of the brancards. The buckle is a replacement in steel (still a JLC buckle, just not the original white gold).
Condition: Good. Some wear on the case, including a visible scuff on a brancard. Buckle is a replacement JLC steel buckle (original was white gold).
Includes: Box and papers.
