The Watch: The Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Ref. 5036J represents one of the most refined expressions of the brand’s late 1990s–early 2000s design language. Introduced as a follow-up to the landmark Ref. 5035 (the first annual calendar wristwatch ever produced), the 5036J adds a moonphase and power reserve indicator while maintaining the classic 37mm case proportions and balanced dial layout.
Crafted in 18k yellow gold, the watch features Patek’s signature fluted lugs, a concave bezel, and a silver opaline dial with applied gold Roman numerals. The calendar indications — day, date, and month — are arranged in three apertures across the upper half of the dial, while the moonphase and power reserve sit symmetrically below. The dauphine hands and railway minute track complete a look that’s understated, elegant, and quintessentially Patek.
Inside beats the Caliber 315/199, an automatic movement with a 21k gold rotor, beautifully finished bridges, and Geneva Seal certification. The annual calendar mechanism automatically adjusts for months with 30 or 31 days, requiring manual correction only once per year in February.
Condition: Very good condition overall. The case and bezel show light wear consistent with age but retain its lines and an excellent profile. The dial has two minor blemishes — one near the “12” of the power reserve and one near “8” — visible only in some lighting. The watch runs accurately and all functions operate correctly.
Includes: Full set: original Patek Philippe box (inner lining peeling), certificate of origin, papers, and booklets. Fits up to a 7.25" wrist.
