The Watch: Let’s start with: what is Credor? A high-end offshoot of Seiko, the more refined sibling of Grand Seiko. While Grand Seiko is and has been generally focused on tool watches, legibility, structured design language, and dials inspired by the natural world, Credor is a smaller operation, emphasizing elegance, hand finishing, and precious metals, and producing exclusively for the Japanese market. Go to their store locator and you’ll need to input a Prefecture, because they only exist in Japan.

In 1999, Seiko unveiled their first spring drive movement, the 7R68A, a hybrid of quartz and mechanical watch design that has a gliding seconds hand with continuous torque. In 2002 Credor brought its first spring drive movement to the market, the 7R88A. Which brings us to today’s watch: The Credor GBLH999, a white gold cased example of one of the first spring drive watches brought to market. This is contemporary history.

Comes as a full set from Japan dated 2003.
