The Watch: GST stands for Gold, Steel, Titanium, the three metals IWC offered when the line launched in 1997. This was IWC in its tool watch era, before the brand's pivot upmarket, when the catalog was built around instruments: Aquatimers, Ingenieurs, and this, the GST Chronograph. The integrated case and bracelet design predates the current integrated-bracelet craze by two decades, and it was done for function rather than fashion, with the lugs flowing into the links for a solid, seamless fit.

The black dial is pure legibility: applied luminous markers, a tri-compax chronograph layout, and a day-date display at 3. Inside is the caliber 7922, IWC's take on the Valjoux 7750, the most proven automatic chronograph architecture ever made. IWC's philosophy in this era was to take robust base movements and rework them to their standards, and the result is a chronograph you can actually use without anxiety: screw-down crown, 120 meters of water resistance, and service parts available anywhere.

The case is 40mm in stainless steel on the integrated steel bracelet. The GST line was discontinued in the mid-2000s, and these have aged into one of the smarter buys in modern IWC, a genuine tool chronograph from a era decades gone.

This 2003 example comes as a full set in good condition. The bracelet has some scratches, and the box shows peeling and is included for provenance only.

Condition: Good. Some scratches on the bracelet. Box is peeling, included for provenance only.

Includes: Full set. Box condition noted above.
