The Watch: Roger Dubuis built its reputation on two things: tourbillons and audacity. The brand emerged in 1995 with Carlos Dias and Roger Dubuis (formerly of Patek Philippe) aiming to produce haute horlogerie complications at a pace the traditional houses would find unseemly. By the mid-2000s, the manufacture was turning out more tourbillons annually than almost anyone else in Switzerland, each one bearing the Geneva Seal.
The Easy Diver brought the brand's complications underwater. The SE48 02 9 houses a flying tourbillon in a frankly absurd 48mm steel case with white gold rotating bezel rated to 300 meters. The case is derivative of Dubuis's famed Sympathie shape, repurposed into something massive. This example features a champagne dial, which softens the industrial dive-watch framework with something approaching warmth. The tourbillon carriage at seven o'clock remains the focal point.
On the reverse, the Geneva Sealed, manual wind movement is visible, along with the limited edition of 280 that the watch is numbered.
How many of us haven't wanted to wear a flying tourbillon while we go diving(???)
A 2005 example with box and papers from the era when the brand was still independent.
