The Watch: Roger Dubuis was founded in 1995 by Roger Dubuis (who had spent two decades at Patek Philippe) and designer Carlos Dias (formerly of Franck Muller). The brand built its early reputation on Geneva Seal-certified movements at a time when very few manufacturers submitted their production to that level of scrutiny. The Easy Diver was part of the brand's mid-2000s lineup, positioned as a sport watch with the kind of movement finishing you'd normally find in a dress complication.
The SE40 is the 40mm version (much more wearable than the SE43) of the Easy Diver in stainless steel, with a black dial showing hours, minutes, and seconds. The case has a distinctive profile with integrated rubber strap attachments and a white gold, unidirectional rotating bezel. The automatic movement carries the Poinçon de Genève (Geneva Seal), which at the time governed hand-finishing standards, assembly quality, and timekeeping accuracy. That certification meant every bridge, plate, and wheel had to meet specific decoration and finishing criteria verified by independent inspectors from the Canton of Geneva.
Roger Dubuis has since been acquired by the Richemont Group and pivoted toward the Excalibur collection. The Easy Diver is a collectible artifact from the brand's independent era.
