The Watch: Launched in 1998 and virtually unchanged since, the Portugieser Chronograph is one IWC's most successful references of all time.
This is the white gold version: 41mm diameter, 12.5mm thick, with an anthracite metallic dial. Applied white gold Arabic numerals and leaf hands stay true to the 1939 Portugieser design. The twin-register chronograph integrates seamlessly without spoiling the aesthetic. Inside is IWC cal. 79320, based on the Valjoux/ETA 7750 but modified: IWC removed the date to preserve the clean dial and added a hacking mechanism for precise time-setting. 44-hour power reserve.
This white gold variant is discontinued, but remains a beautiful piece of quiet, functional luxury.
