The Watch: The Vacheron Constantin Quai de l’Île 4500S/000A-B195 blends angular, art deco design with centuries of Genevan craftsmanship. Named for the Geneva address Vacheron Constantin has occupied since 1875, on the island in the Rhône where the manufacture built its headquarters. The line launched in 2008, and the stainless steel version arrived in 2016.
The case is a cushion at 41 x 41.85mm and 12mm thick, brushed across the flanks with polished bezel and lugs, water resistant to 30 meters.
The date is main attraction. The numerals are printed on a sapphire crystal ring rather than a disc, and a rotating arrow travels beneath them to point at the current date. The silver opaline dial is built in layers and reads as semi-transparent, with applied polished markers mixing indexes and Arabic numerals, a fine printed minute track, and polished hands with luminous fill.
Inside is the in-house cal. 5100/1, 172 components, 37 jewels, 28,800 vph, with 60 hours of reserve and a tungsten rotor. The movement carries the Hallmark of Geneva, which certifies the finishing and assembly under Geneva law. It is visible through the sapphire caseback.
Condition: Light wear consistent with careful use.
Includes: Watch and papers.
