The Watch: Michel Parmigiani spent decades as one of the most respected restorers in Switzerland before putting his own name on a dial. His workshop handled pieces from the Patek Philippe Museum and the Sandoz collection, work that demands total fluency in every era of watchmaking. When the Sandoz Family Foundation backed him to launch Parmigiani Fleurier in 1996, the result was a manufacture with vertical integration most brands can only claim on paper, including its own movement maker in Vaucher and its own case and dial suppliers.
The Tonda GT arrived in 2020 as the brand's answer to the sport-luxury category, and it did the job so well that its design language shaped the Tonda PF collection that followed a year later. The knurled bezel, the integrated lug architecture, and the restrained dial treatment all showed up here first.
This reference pairs a silver dial in the brand's clou triangulaire guilloche with a big date at 12 and a small seconds register at 6, both framed in black for contrast. The delta-shaped hands carry black luminous material. Inside sits the in-house caliber PF044, an automatic movement built from 274 parts with a 45 hour power reserve, visible through the sapphire caseback and immaculately finished with radiating stripes from the escapement.
The case measures 42mm in stainless steel with 100 meters of water resistance.
