Even with its illustrious history notwithstanding, the Santos de Cartier is an outstanding piece. The stainless steel timepiece cuts a striking figure with its silvered opaline dial, blued sword hands, vertically brushed case complemented by its polished bezel and chamfered edges. The watch is much larger than its ancestors, measuring 40mm, putting it well within modern size specs. This mechanical watch is powered by the Cartier caliber 1847 MC, an automatic movement with 42 hours of autonomy 23 jewels, and a frequency of 28,800 vph - rock solid. Highly legible with its Roman numerals and date window at six o’clock, the Santos De Cartier is a worthy rival to watches such as the Rolex Datejust. Over a century later, the Santos feels relevant, sophisticated, and above all else, timeless.
