The Watch: As Roger Dubuis has embraced increasingly aggressive aesthetics in modern times, Roger Dubuis’ timepieces have become some of the most avant-garde watches on the market. Here we have an Excalibur 42 ref. DBEX0620. A striking fusion of high-performance watchmaking and a more classical aesthetic than Roger Dubuis typically employs, this reference features a silver dial with the brand’s signature exploding black Roman numerals and a large running seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The fluted bezel and 5-link bracelet give the piece a more traditionalist construction, while the 42mm stainless steel case maintains strong wrist presence.
Inside is the automatic Caliber RD830, offering a modern movement with the brand’s characteristic bold execution. This timepiece blends Roger Dubuis’ design DNA with a more restrained, versatile package.
Condition: Overall near-mint. The steel case retains a well-preserved finish with only a couple of light marks and a tiny mark on the non-crown side. The display caseback engravings are sharp, the dial and hands are like new, and the steel bracelet remains excellent with 12 1/2 links (4 1/2 removable) and 2 additional links included. Fits up to approximately a 7.5” wrist with all links.
