The Watch: The Ming 17.09 represents a pivotal evolution in the independent brand’s early catalog. It builds on the foundation of the 17-series with enhanced finishing, updated proportions, and, for the first time in a Ming 17x, a unique guilloché dial. This particular example features the rare burgundy dial variant, produced in limited numbers and sold out immediately upon release.
The 38mm case, rendered in stainless steel, features Ming’s signature flared lugs and radial brushing. The dial is a richly layered guilloché pattern rendered in deep burgundy, overlaid with a sapphire crystal dial bearing the floating indices. The luminous hour track and hands glow vividly, offering legibility and dramatic nighttime appeal.
Powering the watch is the Ming x Schwarz-Etienne Cal. 300.M1, an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW330-2 but modified with independent hour setting allowing the local hour hand to be adjusted without stopping the movement, a useful feature for travelers.
