The Watch: Louis Cartier designed the Tank in 1917, reportedly inspired by the aerial view of Renault tanks on the Western Front. The vertical brancards (side bars) became the case, the treads became the bracelet, and a century of variations followed. The Tank Française arrived in 1996 as Cartier's integrated bracelet interpretation.
Reference WSTA0067 is the newest generation, thicker and more robust than the previous. This is a large model in steel, measuring 36.7mm by 30.5mm. That's the automatic version, powered by Cartier's in-house 1847 MC caliber with a 37-hour power reserve.
The dial is signature Cartier: silvered finish, blued steel sword-shaped hands, Roman numerals that elongate as they approach the case edges, and the signature hidden Cartier signature in the VII. A date aperture sits discreetly between 4 and 5 o'clock. The crown features a synthetic blue spinel cabochon, a detail that dates back to Louis Cartier's original designs.
