The Watch: The Laureato launched in 1975, three years after the Royal Oak and a year before the Nautilus, designed by Italian architect Adolfo Natalini rather than the usual Swiss design houses. Girard-Perregaux is one of the oldest continuously operating watch manufactures, founded in 1791. The 38mm size of the modern Laureato sits between the brand's 34mm and 42mm offerings, and the proportions are well-judged: 10.02mm thick with a 44mm lug-to-lug.
Reference 81005-11-3154-1CM is the copper dial variant. The dial features the brand's signature Clous de Paris hobnail pattern, which catches light differently across its facets. Rhodium-plated baton indexes are filled with luminescent material. The GP logo and central seconds hand are rendered in a complementary gold tone that picks up the warmth of the dial.
Inside is the in-house caliber GP03300-2476, an automatic movement with 218 components, 27 jewels, running at 28,800 vph with a 46-hour power reserve. The 18k pink gold oscillating weight is visible through the sapphire caseback. Water resistance is 100 meters.
The case features the Laureato's signature visual progression: octagonal bezel, circular case, cushion-shaped middle case, integrated H-link bracelet with alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces. Bracelet is sized for a 7.25" wrist.
