The Watch: Vacheron Constantin is the oldest continuously operating watch manufacture in the world, founded in Geneva in 1755. The FiftySix collection, launched at SIHH 2018, takes its inspiration from reference 6073, a watch the brand released in 1956 with a case design that introduced lugs shaped to evoke the Maltese cross of the Vacheron logo. The modern FiftySix preserves that lug geometry, adds a box-shaped sapphire crystal for vintage warmth, and updates the proportions for a 40mm case.
Reference 4600E/110A-B487 is the steel-on-bracelet version with the petrol blue dial. The dial is a double-finished construction: opaline at the center transitioning to satin sunburst at the periphery, with applied 18k gold Arabic numerals and stick markers and 18k gold baton hands filled with blue Super-LumiNova. The date sits at 3 o'clock. The brand introduced this bracelet variant in 2019, and the bracelet uses Vacheron's micro-adjustment system that allows up to 4mm of wrist circumference adjustment without tools.
The caliber 1326 is automatic, COSC certified, with a 22k gold oscillating weight inspired by the Maltese cross. The movement runs at 28,800 vph with a 48-hour power reserve and is visible through the sapphire caseback. Hallmark of Geneva certification across the movement.
This 2023 example is in good condition with some marks on the bracelet visible in photos.
