The Watch: Launched in 2023, this is the widely requested and now finally delivered return of the classic Gerald Genta-style IWC Ingenieur. Although the model line traces its origins to 1955, the most recognizable iteration was the 1832 Ingenieur SL, or "Jumbo Ingenieur," launched in 1976. This release came during the fruitful 1970s era of Gerald Genta’s design career, which yielded iconic watches like the Rolex 5100, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Patek Philippe Nautilus, and the IWC Ingenieur. This modern interpretation follows a period when IWC invested significantly in throwback models inspired by the 1950s and 1960s. With the return of the integrated bracelet, lug, case design, and textured dial, this 40mm stainless steel watch stands out.
The watch features IWC’s signature anti-magnetic technology with a soft iron inner cage to protect the movement, and the new dial design is modern, but recalls IWC's classic "graph paper" Ingenieur dials.
