The Watch: Alain Silberstein is one of the most distinctive voices in late 20th-century independent watchmaking. A trained interior architect turned horologist, Silberstein brought the principles of the Bauhaus movement and a bold, postmodern flair to watch design in the 1990s and early 2000s. His timepieces, marked by geometric forms, vivid primary colors, and playful hands, stood out in an era of conservatism and still remain cult classics among collectors today. Silberstein himself has recently been active again, working with Louis Erard on a collaboration.

This Krono Bauhaus model is one of Silberstein’s most recognizable creations. The 40mm stainless steel case features his signature geometric pushers, a deep rehaut, and an incredibly detailed dial. The silver dial is pure Silberstein, and full of information: yellow and red chronograph second and minutes hands (in inverted squiggles that line up like a little helix when reset), 3 subdials: day/night, running seconds, and chronograph hours, plus a day-date indicator.

This particular example is paired with a blue rubber strap and steel deployant clasp, designed to match the watch’s color and geometric palette. It fits wrists up to approximately 7.25". The strap has light wear but remains supple and well-fitted.

The watch is powered by an automatic chronograph movement (based on the Valjoux 7750, modified by Silberstein), offering reliable functionality wrapped in joyful, radical design, with red, yellow, and blue movement pieces wrought in a similar geometry to the dial.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition with light wear. Strap has minor signs of use. Runs well and all chronograph functions operate correctly.

Includes: Watch only.

Whether you’re a Silberstein fan or a collector of playful, daring watch design, this is a historically important piece that embodies the best of the '90s independent scene.
