The Watch: Breguet was founded in 1775 by Abraham Lewis Breguet and has had an inescapable impact on watchmaking. They invented the Breguet overcoil in 1795, the tourbillon in 1801, and the very first wristwatch itself in 1810. Their inventions and early design choices, Breguet hands and Breguet numerals, are still in use today.
This is a Breguet Heritage 5480BA. A big (33x39mm) hunk of gold to strap on. Tonneau-shaped, the case flanks are cold rolled and hand finished to a coin edge. The dial is made of solid gold and, in classic Breguet fashion, cut to a hypnotic guilloche pattern. The movement is a Breguet 516 GG, based on the Frederic Piguet 1150 with a slightly higher beat rate. It has twin barrels for a nice even torque release so it doesn't have a big drop off in amplitude after 24, 36, 48 hours the way a single barrel movement would and all of this is water-resistant down to 30 meters.
Includes: Watch only.
Condition: Excellent pre-owned condition. Wear on the strap, a few very light marks on the case. Dial is immaculate. See photos.
