The Watch: In 2021, Bulgari partnered with Japanese conceptual artist Tatsuo Miyajima to produce a striking reinterpretation of the Octo Finissimo. This is one of 120 ceramic pieces created for that collaboration—an ultra-thin, ultra-modern watch that bridges horology and contemporary art.
The matte black ceramic case and bracelet retain the Octo’s signature geometry, measuring 40mm across and just 5.5mm thick. The dial is where things take a radical turn: all traditional indices have been removed and replaced with a single LED-style “8”in contrasting media-blasted texture, allowing the motif to appear and disappear depending on angle and lighting.
The small seconds subdial remains subtly placed at 7 o’clock, as is typical for the Octo Finissimo. Inside is Bulgari’s BVL 138 micro-rotor movement, beautifully finished and just 2.23mm thick, visible through a sapphire caseback bearing Miyajima’s printed signature.
This is a conceptual collector’s piece: stealthy, philosophical, and visually compelling.
