The Watch: The Daniel Roth Le Sentier represents one of the most significant chapters in independent watchmaking history. Before F.P. Journe and other contemporary independents became household names, there was Daniel Roth—a master watchmaker who helped resurrect Breguet in the 1970s before launching his own eponymous brand in 1989 from his modest workshop in Le Sentier, nestled in the Vallée de Joux.
This example likely dates to the late '90's. The vivid coral red dial with Breguet numerals creates a striking visual statement similar to Rolex's legendary "Stella" dials, while the 32mm case features Daniel Roth's signature "Ellipsocurvex" double-ellipse shape—neither round nor rectangular, but gracefully balancing both. This distinctive case design, combined with individually hand-soldered lugs and unsigned crown creates one of the most recognizable silhouettes in haute horlogerie. Attached is a bracelet with a distinct pattern of the same ellipsocurvex design.
Powered by an automatic movement based on Girard-Perregaux calibers, the watch features beautiful finishing with Côtes de Genève decoration visible through the sapphire exhibition caseback. The movement is signed and numbered, testament to the artisanal production methods employed during Daniel Roth's golden era.
