The Watch: Before the Royal Oak defined the brand’s visual identity, Audemars Piguet experimented widely with shape, proportion, and restraint. The Huitieme collection, launched in the mid-1980s, was one of those experiments—a line of rounded, classical watches that leaned into refinement rather than angular bravado.
This reference, 14593BA is a hefty 87g, 40.5mm three-hander in 18k yellow gold, powered by the automatic caliber 2125. The case features a stepped bezel and long lugs, with the AP name engraved at 12 o’clock on the bezel. The dial is a soft eggshell white, punctuated by applied indices, baton hands, and a date window at 3 o’clock, magnified by a discreet cyclops.
It’s a watch that doesn’t demand attention, but rewards it—a product of an era when AP quietly competed with Patek on craft, not hype.
Condition: Very good, neo-vintage condition. Some case wear. Currently losing about 1 minute/day. Could use a service for perfect timekeeping.
