The Watch: The Speedmaster earned its place in history as a manual wind chronograph, but in the early 1990s Omega built a very different branch of the family. Reference 175.0034 packs a chronograph, day, date, month, and moonphase into a 39mm case, and this version renders the whole thing in solid 18k yellow gold. The combination of a full calendar chronograph in precious metal put this reference in territory normally occupied by watches costing several times as much, and that remains true on the secondary market today.
Inside is the caliber 1150 family, Omega's version of the Valjoux 7751, one of the great workhorse complicated movements. The 7751 base has powered triple calendar chronographs across the industry for decades because it simply works, combining eleven functions in a movement that any competent watchmaker can service.
Day and month windows sit below 12 o'clock, the date is indicated by a center hand, the moonphase occupies the 6 o'clock subdial, and the chronograph registers fill out the layout. The 39mm case wears comfortably by modern standards, and the gold tachymeter bezel ties the design back to the Speedmaster bloodline.
This example dates to the early 1990s and is offered as a watch head on an aftermarket strap and buckle.
Condition: Very good condition with signs of wear consistent with age.
Includes: Watch only on aftermarket strap and buckle. No box or papers.
