The Watch: The PanoMaticLunar is probably the best argument for why Glashütte Original deserves more attention than it gets. The asymmetric dial layout is immaculately organized with the off-center time display at the left, panorama date at 4 o'clock, small seconds below, and a moon phase display at the right. Each element has its own space without competing for attention.
The blue dial on this reference is galvanic, with applied silver indices and white gold hands. The auxiliary dials for the time display and small seconds feature a vinyl-type decorative pattern. The panorama date uses white numerals on a dark blue ground for strong contrast, and the moon phase disc is crafted in-house: the moons are milled and then polished with a diamond-tipped tool for a domed, high-brilliance finish, set against a deep blue galvanized night sky. Each dial goes through roughly 40 separate work steps at Glashütte Original's own dial manufacture in Pforzheim.
The 40mm stainless steel case is 12.7mm thick, and the sapphire caseback reveals the caliber 90-02. This is where the German finishing tradition shows itself: a Glashütte three-quarter plate, skeletonized off-center rotor with stripe finish, blued screws, polished steel components, and the brand's signature duplex swan's neck fine adjustment. The movement runs at 28,800 vph with a 42-hour power reserve.
