The Watch: The IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph is one of the most underappreciated grand complications in modern watchmaking. In 1985, Kurt Klaus figured out how to run an entire perpetual calendar through the crown. That innovation lives in this watch. The ref. IW375803 houses the IWC caliber 79261 (based on the ETA 7750), packing a chronograph, perpetual calendar with moon phase, and a four-digit year display into a 41mm stainless steel case. The white dial is clear and legible despite the density of information: date at 3, month and 12-hour chrono register at 6, day and running seconds at 9, and moon phase at 12. Produced from 2004 to 2006, this reference updated the earlier 3570 with oversized Arabic numerals and a slightly larger case. It's a genuine grand complication from a top-tier manufacture at a fraction of what the big three would charge you.
