The Watch: The D. Dornblüth & Sohn 99.0 is the base model of the 99 family, built in Kalbe, Germany by the workshop Dieter Dornblüth and his son Dirk founded in 1999. The 42mm stainless steel case is polished and burnished, 11.5mm thick, and closed with a double screw union. A 1.6mm sapphire crystal sits slightly domed on top with anti-reflective treatment on the inside, and a screwed sapphire caseback shows the movement. The oversized crown carries the manufactory name embossed.
The dial is sterling silver with the grained, silky matte surface of historical deck watches. Numerals and indexes are printed in black. Hand-polished, heat-blued steel hands read hours and minutes from the center, with an eccentric small seconds display at 6 o’clock.
The hand-wound Calibre 99.0 measures 37mm across and 4.4mm high, running at 18,000 vph on 18 jewels for 50 hours of power reserve. The three-quarter plate is rose gold plated with Geneva stripes, and the manufactory name and serial number are hand engraved in yellow gold. The crown wheels carry a double sunburst finish, and the winding works use a recoil click.
Condition: Very good condition, some marks on the case flank, see photos. Runs well.
Includes: Watch only, aftermarket strap and buckle.
