The Watch: The MB&F M.A.D.1 Red is the second public release in the M.A.D. Editions series—an experimental offshoot of Max Büsser’s acclaimed MB&F that brings the brand’s kinetic artistry to a wider audience. While produced under the M.A.D.1 label rather than MB&F proper, the design language and mechanical creativity are unmistakably Büsser.
The M.A.D.1 Red features a lateral time display, with rotating aluminum discs for hours and minutes visible through the side of the case. The top of the watch showcases a triple-blade rotor spinning beneath the crystal, delivering a captivating display of motion. Its reverse-mounted Miyota 821A automatic movement was modified to expose the rotor dial-side—a signature MB&F twist that transforms functional mechanics into spectacle.
The case measures 42mm (55mm including lugs), constructed from stainless steel with bright red accents throughout. It’s a bold, playful design that captures the spirit of independent horology while remaining wearable and approachable.
Condition: Like new in box, worn only for photography. Rotor spins freely, timekeeping accurate, and discs align cleanly.
