The Watch: Panerai's history runs through the Italian navy. The Florence firm supplied diving instruments and luminous sighting devices to the Royal Italian Navy's frogmen from the 1930s onward, and the Luminor name comes from the tritium-based luminous compound Panerai patented in 1949. The crown-protecting bridge on the right side of the case, the single most recognizable Panerai design element, started as a way to keep a large dive watch genuinely waterproof, and it remains the visual signature of the brand.
The PAM01058 is the Luminor Marina in its most wearable modern form. The 44mm brushed steel case carries the locking crown guard and a clean dial layout, with luminous Arabic numerals and stick markers, a date window at 3 o'clock, and a small running seconds subdial at 9 o'clock. The dial is a sun-brushed blue.
Inside is the in-house caliber P.9010, an automatic movement with a 72 hour power reserve, three full days, that lets the watch sit over a weekend and still be running on Monday. Water resistance is 300 meters.
This piece comes on the integrated steel bracelet, whose links echo the crown-guard bridge motif and assemble without visible screws. This is a 2020 example with box and papers.
Condition: Very good condition with signs of wear consistent with use. Some marks on the bracelet near the clasp. The bracelet fits up to a 7.75 inch wrist.
