The Watch: Michel Parmigiani spent two decades restoring antique timepieces for collectors and museums before founding his own manufacture in 1996. Where other brands outsource components or buy movements wholesale, Parmigiani controls the entire production chain through its ownership of suppliers like Vaucher (movements), Atokalpa (escapements), and Les Artisans Boîtiers (cases). The result is a level of vertical integration that rivals the biggest names in Swiss watchmaking, executed at a fraction of the volume.
The Tonda collection represents Parmigiani's core identity: classical proportions, teardrop lugs, and the distinctive delta-shaped hands that have become a house signature. This Tonda Skeleton strips the dial back to reveal the architecture underneath while retaining enough structure to frame the complications.
This rose gold example stands apart from standard production. A metallic red chapter ring holds the indices, and just inboard of that, a skeletonized date wheel rotates with its own matching red indicator. The movement is finished to a standard that justifies the exhibition caseback, with a skeletonized rose gold rotor providing the automatic winding. Limited to 50 pieces.
