The Watch: Ralph Lauren entered watchmaking long after he had built the rest of the empire, and when he did, he approached it the way he approaches everything, by reaching back into the visual language of the early twentieth century.
The watch is a sharply designed field watch with charmingly bulbous numerals and a surprisingly thin profile, giving it a light but sturdy feeling.
Meanwhile, RL had the good sense to use a La Joux-Perret caliber 7380, a hand-wound movement with a 90 hour power reserve, visible through a sapphire caseback. Located in La Chaux-de-Fonds, LJP are the movement factory behind Arnold & Son and Angelus. There is legitimate watch engineering in this one.
