The Watch: Ulysse Nardin spent most of the late 20th century building its reputation on serious horological complications, and the GMT +/- Perpetual is among the most technically interesting watches the brand has ever produced. The headline feature is the perpetual calendar that can be adjusted forwards and backwards through the crown alone, a system patented by master watchmaker Ludwig Oechslin. Every other perpetual calendar on the market requires either recessed pushers or only allows forward correction.
Reference 322-66 is the limited edition of 500 pieces in 18k rose gold. The dial features a copper wave guilloché pattern with applied rose gold indices and Arabic numerals, skeletonized and heat-blued hour and minute hands, and luminous tips for legibility. The perpetual calendar displays day (left of center), month (right of center), two-digit year (above 6 o'clock), and a big date in a double window at the upper right. Small seconds at 9 o'clock. The GMT system uses an arrow-headed hand to display home time as a fixed reference, while the main hour hand can be adjusted forward or backward in one-hour increments via patented +/- pushers at the 4 and 8 o'clock positions on the case edge. This is significantly more practical than most GMT mechanisms, where you have to choose between fast-setting the local time or the home time but not both.
The case is 42mm in 18k rose gold, 13.4mm thick, 49.9mm lug-to-lug. The UN-32 caliber is visible through the sapphire caseback: automatic, 34 jewels, 28,800 vph, 48-hour power reserve. The brown alligator strap closes with an 18k rose gold deployant buckle.
This example shows some light case wear consistent with use, and comes with the box but no papers.
